EZ-STEER

H-D FLH & SOFTAIL, HONDA GL1500 & GL1800 WITH A SIDECAR OR TRIKE
In the early 1990s Champion Sidecars was the first sidecar manufacturer to develop an improved, economic alternative to the "leading link" or Earles-type fork. The leading link design was used extensively in Europe but slow to develop a following in the U.S: these front ends were heavy, expensive, hard-to-find and most riders found the appearance less than stylish.

Much has been written about motorcycle "steering geometry" in general, and rake, trail, steering neck tubes, straight-line stability, high-speed stability, "quick" and "slow" steering, "light" and "heavy" steering, weave and wobble, gyroscopic precession, slip angles, righting moments, castor effect, counter-steering and restoring forces, in particular.

Any good Internet Search Engine will help you to find those if you like the detailed technical explanations.

n a nutshell, too much trail can result in "heavy" or "slow" steering. It is more pronounced on a bike that has a sidecar mounted or that has been triked-out. Reducing the trail results in "lighter" or "quicker" steering.
